The car theory test has 50 multiple-choice questions and you have 57 minutes to answer them. You need at least 43 correct to pass that section, then a separate hazard perception test follows.
43 out of 50 (86%) for the multiple-choice section and 44 out of 75 for hazard perception. You must pass both parts in the same sitting — if you fail one, you retake the whole test.
The car theory test costs £23. Always book through the official government service at gov.uk/book-theory-test. Third-party sites charge a markup for booking the very same test.
Your theory test pass lasts two years. You must pass your practical driving test within that window, otherwise you'll need to sit the theory test again.
